What I Am Listening To...

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Books

The beginning of September I did a post about September being Hispanic Heritage Month.  In the post I added a few books that I though would be interesting to read to celebrate the month.  Then I realized there are a few more I should have added.  So here are a few more books that will give you an opportunity to explore the Hispanic Culture and add some diversity to your bookshelf.

I Love This! Timestitcher

$20.00 from Timestitcher at Etsy.com
Like I mentioned awhile ago, Etsy one of my newest favorite places to do some purse window shopping.  While I still love the big name designer bags, I will always have a need to have a purse that is one of a kind and a conversation piece.  I love having one thing with my outfit that stands out.
Today, I was window shopping over at Etsy and I ran across my newest favorite shop.

What Should I Do to Improve My Blog?

Lately, this question has been on my mind more and more.  Since I started this blog over a year ago, my goal was to have some way to keep track of the books I was reading and to have fun while doing it.  Not to be a big book blogger.  Not to even be a "blogger".  Several times I lost the overall meaning of my blog and then I jumped back to the original game plan.  How did I lose my purpose?  Well, I joined book tours and started using author guest post, cover reveals and giveaways as post fillers about books I would never read.  Don't get me wrong not all of them were just fillers.  I did read and review a few books from a book tour and I loved them.  But that was very, very few and far between.  Then, I joined a ton of giveaway hops and memes to get my numbers up.  It worked but I was not suppose to be blogging for numbers.  I'd lost sight of the original goal.  Keeping track of the books I read.
Ok!  Now it's almost two years later and I have had a bit of time off!  It's time to do some soul searching about my blog.  And I really REALLY! want your thoughts on this too.

September is Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month 2013
begins on Sunday, September 15 and ends on Tuesday, October 15
Yes it is!  Along with Back to School Month for almost everyone under the age of 21.  But as much as I can, I try to give you all (book bloggers) an opportunity to find a few good reads to help diversify your bookshelves.   There are so many great writers out there creating amazing books with Hispanic main characters, history and culture and they are not getting enough of our attention.  (That is of course my opinion only)  But you rarely see an author of Hispanic origin on a book blogger tour or their books getting many reviews from book bloggers.

August 2013: Wrap Up

I am finally caught up on all (almost all) my blog post from June and July.  Whew!  I won't do that again.  I should say I will try not to do that again.
Confession time!  I have been in a reading slump for some time now and I think it was BEA's fault.  I was so OVERWHELMED with so many books in my house after I got home that I didn't know what to do.  Where to start and I just didn't want to look at books for awhile?  *gasp* I know!  I said it!  But I think I am coming out of it.  SLOWWWWLY! So that is enough chatting let's get to the wrap up for August.  I love this only when I have hit my personal goal.  Nope I am not telling you what it is.  I just have a number, a small number in my head for the number of books read and reviewed on my blog.  Ok!  Now here are the stats.

I posted 21 post on this blog and August was Native American Heritage Month.

  This month I bought
1 books. (A total of 7 book so far this year.  Audiobooks and e-books don't count since they don't take up space on my bookcase.)

Labor Day

I should take today off from blogging.  Humm!  After my two and half month hiatus, it wouldn't be justified.  But it was a nice thought.
Enjoy the day off!
