The Casting Couch #2

As a part of my new blog resolutions, I decided to add a new monthly post called "The Casting Couch".  The Casting Couch is my monthly post were I will be "fun" casting a few of the books I have reviewed this month.  This is only my dream cast and or possible cast and has nothing to do with the actual actors that were cast in the movie versions.  I just wanted to let you know who I was seeing in my head as I was reading a few of these books. Click on the actors name to read their resumes.

So have a seat on the couch and let the actors show you their stuff...

Black History Month: New To Me Authors

I wanted to do my last Black History Month post about the books I have read by Black Authors.  This year I have completed one book by a Black Author and I currently reading two others.  All three of these books are by authors that are new to me.  Reviews coming soon!  Since it is just February this list is short so I included a list of books from Black Authors that were new to me from 2012.  (Listed by genre.)

Black History Month Giveaway Hop!

Welcome everyone to Black History Month Giveaway Hop is here!

What is the big deal about this hop?  Well since we are all bloggers and we read everything from YA, Erotica, Fiction, Romance and everything under the sun most of the authors, characters and subject matters do not reflect the diversity in the communities we live in.
Take a look over your left shoulder.
How many books on your bookshelf are by Black authors?  How many of those books on your shelf have a black main character in them.
So this hop is to help fix that.

Wicked Valentine's Read-A-Thon: Wrap Up

Wicked Valentine's Read-a-Thon
Feb. 7 - Feb. 14
And Done!!!...I completed my first Wicked Valentine's Read-A-Thon.  Whoot!  Whoot!  *throwing kisses*  I had a great time and I am going to be jumping in on this one again next year.  Orginally, I planned on accomplishing these goals:
1.  Complete 2 book.
I think I will finish Sway on my ipad and Absent on my nightstand.  They have been there awhile and I would like to finish them sooner than later.
2.  Complete 1 review
At least one.
3.   Enter at least 3 Challenges
4.  Join the Twitter chat at #WWReadathon once.
5.  Visit 5 new blogs.
I think if I pick 5new to me blogs to visit every day then that seems more realistic.  Cause my boss might be curious as to why I am at my computer all day long.
So here are my end of Read-A-Thon results:

What I Am Listening To...

Pocketbooks to Show Your Love

I love Valentine's Day!  I love the colors of the holiday and the meaning behind it all.  I even try and get a new red or pink outfit together for the day.  Nothing over the top like a red heart shaped sweater.  Nothing like that all.  I try to keep it simple and just a little something to show my love.  LOL!  But I this year I might switch it up and just get a pocketbooks to show my love.  I was window (online) shopping and ran across a few cute Valentine's Day inspired purses.  Maybe just a new purse!  I love having an excuse to buy a new bag.  Look what I ran across.  Click on the image to go the shop and see for yourself.

Black History Month: Best Inspirational Books

I love getting a boost every once in awhile.  Sometimes we all need them!  There are some amazing inspirational books out there that are just what the doctor ordered.  The books below are by Black Authors but are not just for Black folks.  They are meant to uplift your spirit, get you on the right track, and help you break a few of those "bad" habits.  Here are just a few inspirational books by Black Authors that I think are wonderful and you should check them out.  Trust me you'll see why.

Black History Month: Best Black Books

February as you know is Black History Month.  Today, I thought I would highlight a few books by Black Authors that I think everyone should read.  Everyone!  Not just Black people.
There are so many great books out there and it was so hard trying to limit the list to just a few.  These are just a small drop in the bucket of outstanding books by Black Authors.

What I Am Reading...

This Blog is Cleaning House Again!

I love doing this giveaway so much because I get to see some great books go to great homes.  And that leaves some room for more great books to come live with me.  If you are new to my Clean House Giveaway here is the purpose.... I don't want to be a hoarder and have books overrun my one bedroom apartment (which can happen very easily). So every month or so I will be giving away a small box of books to a lucky winner.  This month is February aka Black History Month.  So all the books I am giving away this month are Black Books from my bookshelf.  These 6 books are slightly used and well loved.
By Black Books I mean they are by Black authors or have a Black main character.
