Bloggish Goals for 2015

Yes it is that time to start the goal setting and forecasting for the new year.  For 2014 I had some high hopes for my blog.  I thought at the end of 2013 I would have a lot more bloggish things accomplished.  Take a minute to check out my 2013 resolutions and goals for 2014.  And don't laugh to loud.

Book Blogging Goals

These are specific and often number-based goals that relate to your blog. They are milestones you want to hit or specific things you want to achieve.

1.  Giveaway 50 books
I think I have hit this goal but I didn't keep count to know for sure.
2.  Post at least 350 blog post
Missed that one by 20 or more
3.  Complete all my reading challenges
I have two that are not going to happen at all.  DANG!  Alphabet Soup Reading Challenge.  DANG! and the TBR Pile Reading Challenge
4.  Knock off at least 12 books from my TBR pile that are here in the house.
5.  Buy only 12 books (Book Club Book of the Month books)
SCORE!!!  I did that one by accident.

UPDATED: To reflect year long change!
Book Blog Walkers Unite! Book Blog Walkers is BACK
Alright! Here we go again. I am going to get a little fitness orientated for the month of
January2014. I thought it would be super cool if we could get a group together to keep each other on track again! Let’s start Jan with one small goal that could build a good foundation for the rest of the year.
  • For the month of Jan 2014 I will be following the hashtag #bookblogwalkers on both Facebook and Twitter! If you decide to play along then just use that hashtag!
  • Every Sunday in Jan I will be doing a shout out to all the blogs that participated (even if you do one day–you deserve to be recognized) on Twitter. Figure it will be fun to see who is getting their walk on!
  • At the end of the month, I will put all the participants names in a hat and giveaway a book of your choice from Amazon/Book Depository up to a $10 value.

I posted about 2 weeks ago, another Bloggiesta is coming.  This is my post for my mini-Bloggiesta goals.  Oh what?!  You don't know about Bloggiesta.  OMG!  Where have you been?  Ok!  Now that my shock is over, let me tell you about the amazing Bloggiesta.
In short, Bloggiesta is a blogging marathon revolving around ticking off those items on your to-do list and improving your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing. Our awesome mascot Pedro (Plan. Edit. Develop. Review. Organize) is ready to break out the nachos, enchiladas, drinks, mariachi music and whack a pinata or two! It’s nothing short of an awesome fiesta!     -From Bloggiesta About Page

My Bookish Resolution for 2014

So last year I made a Bookish Resolution to not buy any books in 2013 unless it was a Mocha Girls Read book of the month.  Since there are 12 months that means 12 books in one year and nothing else. I am happy to say .... I DID IT!  But I did purchase a few books for giveaways.  Just a few. But overall I am happy about getting my book buying habits under control.

But there was a part of my 2013 resolution that I didn't really nail. I have a ton of books at home that I need to read.  A ton!  And I really want to read more than half of them.  I really want to finish this list and move on.  Call me OCD but I have 100 new books (that I didn't buy) in my house from BEA13 and I am still hooked on this list.
Here is my 2103 list with the books I did read crossed out.

2013 Reading Resolution Update

Way back at the beginning of the year I posted my 2013 New Year Book-ish Resolutions.  It just occurred to me I should do a check up on them and see how I am doing.

I, Alysia Allen pledge not to purchase any new books for the year of 2013.  There is only one exception.  The book club book of the month is the only book I will purchase at the local independent bookstore.  I will not purchase books for giveaways either.  I will be giving away only the books currently in my possession.  If I bring new books into my house they have to be FREE!  I can purchase audiobooks and e-books since they do not live on my bookshelf.
In 2013 I will only purchase 12 (book club selection) books and nothing more.  I will read the books in my house this year regardless of age, condition and public opinion.

This is my pledge for 2013.

My Bookish Resolution for 2013

As you all know, since I have been book blogging my book hoarding has gotten a little bit out of control.  I have one long book case in my living room that I like to have filled with books.  But as of June this year, the bookcase is overflowing and I now have medium size shipping boxes of books in various places around the house.  It didn't not help that my mother practically demanded I take several bags of books out of her garage and my childhood room as well.  Some of them I still haven't read after they've sat for years collecting dust.  Basically, I forgot about them!
