Radiant Orchid Book Covers

 

Every year the Pantone company of all things color selects a color of the year. Once the announcement is made various companies, designers, fashionista and color lovers start production of new productions with that color.  I know it sounds like a scene from the movie The Wiz. 

But it really happens.  Last year the color was Emerald Green.  This year the color is Radiant Orchid.

The publishing world even added Radiant Orchid on a few of the new book releases of 2014.

How to Rock Radiant Orchid

If you missed it, the Gods of Color at Pantone have announced the new it color for 2014. Yes there is a color for the new year. Last year was all about Emerald Green and this year it is Radiant Orchid. Think of this bold color as purple with a hint of red. Just a touch but not to much.  

I love color and unlike most people I don't have one favorite over another.  I love them all equally for different reasons.  But I understand that most people shy away from color and are like deers in headlights when it comes to putting colors together.  Here is a complete non-professional opinion on adding Radiant Orchid to your wardrobe.   Disclaimer time.  I am not a professional stylist I just like to pick, mix and match and I did not deffer to anyone about this.

In my humble opinion you don't want to wear this color from head to toe because you might run the risk of looking like one of the following...

Radiant Orchid

Every year Pantone (the gods of color and naming color) names the color of the year.  This years color is soothing and it screams zen.

Now that they have announced the color of the year, trust me, you will see it every where.  Furniture designers, costume designers, fashion designers and mostly everyone with the title of DESIGNER will have new and of course cute products out in this color.  Purses too!

Some of us call it Purple or Lavender but this year it's new name is Radiant Orchid.  

Of course I made a Pinterest board for this new 2014 color of the year.

 The board as a bit of everything to give you a few wardrobe, room and even craft ideas.
By the way, if you are asking yourself what is radiant orchid I think I  might be able to clear it up a bit.  Just think of purple then add a touch of red to it.  Then Voila!  You got it!

EMERALD GREEN

Every year Pantone (the universe of color and naming color) names the color of the year.  This years color is perfect on everything and one of my all time favorites.  My first car was this color.  An Emerald Green Mazad Protege and I named her Dorthy.  Get it!  Emerald City!  Oz!  Dorthy!  

Now that they have announced the color of the year, trust me, you will see it every where.  Furniture designers, costume designers and mostly everyone with the title of DESIGNER will have new and of course cute products out in this color.
