Sunday Delight: Me A Panel Moderator?

OMG! I was asked by the organizer of The First Inglewood Literary Arts Festival to be the panel moderator for the Children's Author Panel.  OMG!  No way!  Really!  Me!  This is a bit surreal.  What am I going to ask them?  Hell what are we going to talk about?
Yes!  I! AM! A! BIT! NERVOUS!!
It's on 4/11/2015 at 10am so I have a bit of time.  Not much to get it together.
Oh by the way...
HAPPY EASTER SUNDAY!

Here and Now

Time: 5:28 pm (Saturday)
Drinking:  Green Tea with Lemon and Honey
Eating: Going to make a Caesar Salad with Grilled Fish
Listening To: The Brand New Heavies Radio on Pandora
Watching: Last week we saw Get Hard with Kevin Hart and it was funny but a bit over the top with the sexual references.  I was so pissed at the mom behind us who had her 4 kids all under the age of 13 with her.  The whole movie I was looking back at the kids as they covered their eyes.  It was shameful.  She was there to watch a movie and just happened to bring her kids along too.  Hot ass mess!

POC Children Book's

Welcome back to my little post about the world of POC.
What is POC you ask?  POC stands for People of Color.  Non-White.  So that encompasses Asian, Black, Latin, American Indian.  This year I am making it a point to include more POC post on my blog.  Not just book reviews but other stuff like highlighting POC authors, books and other things POC are doing in the bookish world.
Today, I am highlight children books.  I have to say first, when I was a small beginner reader there were no, ZERO books with little black girls in them.  I know my mother was very conscience about making sure there were black dolls in our collections along with a few white ones but there were no books with POC in them on my shelf.  Not because my mother didn't buy them but that was just not heard of in the late 70's and 80's.  I was an avid reader early on and I was hooked on the Sweet Valley High Series and the Choose Your Own Adventures series the most.  Again there were no POC in those books as well.  Not back then.
Today things are different and I find myself going to the children section just to see what new POC books are out now.  There are more books than before but still the numbers are not even close to being even or even close to non-POC books.  Here are a few great children books with POC characters and/or by POC authors.
By the way have you seen this....

It's A Read-A-Thon's Wrap

March Madness and Take Control of Your TBR Pile
I just did two month long read-a-thons.
One, March Madness hosted by Cedar Station and the other one was TBR Pile Read-a-Thon hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer.
And I read more books in the month of March than I have in two good months.  I am a four books a month a person so completing 16 books is so amazing to me.  Yep!  16!
It so helped to have the month off from work too.  I see how other book bloggers do it now.  I spent a minimum of one hour every single day reading.  No matter what!  And that helped so much too.  I am going to try and keep that rule going as long as I can.
Hopefully, I can do half of this for the month of April.
