Challenge: Operation TBR Reduction

Operation TBR Reduction Button

During Bout of Books Week I ran across this button and had to click it to see what it was all about and low and behold a Challenge with my name written all over it.  Honestly, this could be named "Alysia get some of these books read before you bring more books into the house challenge."  But that would be way to long!  And won't look so cute on this button.
Stephanie at Once Upon a Chapter is just like so many of us book hoarders but is actually doing something about it.  Check out the details below:

*Everyone is invited to participate. Bloggers can grab my button and make a post declaring yourself part of the project. Non-bloggers can leave comments on update posts or even have a shelf on GoodReads or another book networking site for books read for the Operation:TBR Reduction.
*I will start May 1st. If you decide to participate it is not required that you do so every month. While I am deadly serious about this, it doesn’t have to be for you! :)
*Sign up using the linky below (at her site) and I’ll come and cheer you on.
*To be clear this is not a book buying ban.

So here are the rules for me
1.  No buying books just because.  I will only buy one book a month from my local indie bookstore for my book club selection.
2.  I will try and remove 4 to 6 books from my house a month.  (ie, book swaps, giveaways, just giving to folks, or donation.)
3.  I will try and read at least one book from my bookshelf a month.
4.  I will try and get rid of as much swag as possible too.
5.  Only enter giveaways offering gift cards.  LOL!  Yep!

If I do this I will get rid of about 30 books and only add 4 books.  That would be awesome.  Why?  Because I need to get the area where the Christmas tree goes cleared out by December.  Yes!  Books have taken over the Christmas tree area by the living room window.  And to tell you the truth...this book hoarding only started when I started book blogging.  From the amazing giveaway hops, to authors sending books for review, book fairs (thank God I didn't go to BEA) to buying stuff just for giveaways, it has really taken over.  So you now see why I need to do this.
I should have started this post.."Hi!  My name is Alysia and I am a book hoarder."  :)

If you read this post to this point you know you are in the same boat.  So just click the link and join me in this 12 step program.  LOL!
